General mistakes to avoid

Hello guys! I've noticed you have some similar and very repeated mistakes when you write. So, I'm going to tell you those mistakes for you to avoid them:

1. You tend to use the comma a lot and forget about the full stop (punto aparte). When you finish a sentence or an idea you use the full stop.

2. When you use the personal pronoun "I" you ALWAYS have to capitalize it, even if it's not at the beginning of a sentence. Example: "Selena said that I was the smartest student in the class", "He invited me to the party but I won't go" (the other personal pronouns are only capitalized at the beginning of a sentence --> "Charlie said that she would go to Spain with him"

3. Be careful with the 3rd person. For example, you can't say "The joke consist of..." because joke is considered kind of a "thing". It's replaced by the pronoun "it" so it must be conjugated --> "The joke consistS of..."

4. Proper names are always capitalized. "Harry Potter", "San Francisco", "Grey's Anatomy", etc.

5. Be careful with the spelling guys! I think I've told most of you that you have to proofread or double-check your texts before posting them! It's really annoying for the readers to find too many spelling mistakes in a text. Remember that your texts are not for you, but for the people who are going to read it.

Friendly reminder!

Hey yo!

Remember that, apart from the 7 posts I listed in my previous post you must also have one last post before this weekend finishes:

Post #8: Imagine that you are a promoter of any TV program of your interest (Remember it can be any other thing you really like, for example a book, an anime, a cartoon, a movie, etc.)
Explain to your audience:

- What is it about.
- What are the main characters and which one is your favorite (and why)
- why you like it so much and why you recommend it.

Try to include any vocabulary and the grammar we have studied in this cycle. It would give you a better grade! ;)

And here's my example,

---------------------------------------------------------------------

GU FAMILY BOOK

Maybe you don't know but I love Korean music and dramas. One of my hobbies is watching K-dramas or Korean dramas. Gu Family Book is the name of one of my super favorite dramas.

It begins with the love story of a gumiho (a nine-tailed fox creature) called Wol Ryung (It is pronounced like Uol Liong) and a human called Seo Hwa (pronounced So Hua). They fall in love, get married and have a son. The name of their son is Choi Kang Chi (pronounced Chue Kan Chi) and he is a hybrid, half- man half-gumiho. Seo Hwa didn't know Wol Ryung was a gumiho and when she finds out, she leaves him. Wol Ryung is killed by one soldier because he was ordered to (besides, gumiho were considered as dangerous creatures who ate people). Seo Hwa, horrified by knowing that her baby could be a gumiho like her husband, leaves him alone and runs away.

Some years after Kang Chi grows up as a strong, adventurous and kind of silly boy, who was adopted by a good family who run a very famous hotel. They are good and fair people. One day, the bad guy of the story -whose name I don't even want to recall because I hated him!- killed Kang Chi's adoptive parents. From there on, Kang Chi has to survive from the people who want to possess the hotel and who want to kill him. Later, Kang Chi falls in love but he found out they can't be together unless he becomes a human...

The story has everything. No, the story makes you FEEL everything: love, hate, anger, sadness, happiness... There are parts where the story is so good that you just can't stop crying. And the villain is such a bad person that you just want to see him dead!

My favorite character is Wol Ryung. He was mystic creature who was considered deadly but, to me, he was a good one. He wanted to help humans and he fell deep in love with one of them. He would give everything for his beloved ones, even his life. He's brave, faithful, loyal, strong and loving. What else can you ask for?

I would recommend this K-drama because like I said before it has everything. You won't get bored a second with this show. Well, at least I loved it so much that I've watched it twice and couting! (Trust me, if I had more free time I would watch it three more times!)

Posts' guide

Hello, everybody.

I'm posting this to let you know all the entries that you must have on your blogs so far:

Post #1: Self-introduction (a description about yourself: what you like or dislike, your hobbies, your skills, your plans for the future and any other thing you want to share about you.)

Post #2: The text about what pranks you would play on April Fool.

Post #3: If you could be in a TV series/movie/book/anime, which one would like to be in?

Post #4: Write a story involving an experience or wish using "I wish + past simple" (Look at the example I posted on my blog)

Post #5: Imagine that you are in the world of your favorite book/TV show etc. and a crazy crime has just happened. Describe the crime using the vocabulary on page 95.

Post #6: After watching the video  ANIME FIDGET SPINNERS on Youtube, write a text saying the differences between anime and real life.

Post #7: Write about an accident that you or someone you know had in the past. Why is it so memorable? Use the vocabulary of unit 12B.

And here I have two pieces of advice for you guys:

1. When we finish this course keep your blog and "feed" it at least once a week. Think about something that you feel passionate about (video games, anime, books, football or any other sport, fashion and makeup, exercise, cooking, your favorite food or recommended places to go to eat, technology, the life of the famous (gossiping), TV series, movies, etc.) and dedicate your blog to write about this. Or just write about what you did every day and the things that happened in your life, like a virtual diary or "e-diary" (electronic diary). If you make this a habit you'll improve your writing skill!

2. Try to do the posts on time. Procrastination just promotes anxiety problems and that's not good at all!

Anime vs Reality

Ok guys for this task I want you to, first of all, watch this cool video:

I don't even like spinners but I said it was cool because this video makes spinners look so cool, right?

I know that some of you usually watch anime so you will find the style of the video pretty familiar. I also know that some of you don't have any idea about anime. Even if you don't the previous video will help you answer the following question:

What do you find different between anime world and reality?

Write a text explaining as detailed as possible your point of view. Minimum 3 lines, maximum 10.

You can add pictures or other videos to make your post more interesting.

I'm looking forward to reading your opinions!

"I love magic"

This is difficult to choose because there are a lot of imaginary worlds that are amazing. However if I had to pick up just one, I’d choose Harry Potter’s world. I think it would be really cool to be able to do magic spells and it would probably make our lives easier. For example, the spell “Wingardium Leviosa” would help us move things effortlessly.

Besides, not only the magic spells would be helpful but also the magic stuff such as the invisibility cloak. If I had the invisibility cloak I’d use it to hide myself when I’m about to be robbed, for example.  Or when a person that I dislike is coming I would use it so that I don’t have to talk to him/her lol.

If you have watched the movies or read the books you must remember in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire when they used a boot to move them directly to the Quidditch World Cup! How amazing!! And also the "special" tent. It's amazingly bigger in the inside, like a house! Harry says “I love magic”.
So do I, my friend. So do I!

I know magic has negative sides as many other things in the world but if we used magic in the correct way and for good things the world would be a better place.

I wish I were taller!!

I have a very high wardrobe in my bedroom. On the top of it I put my creams, perfumes, powder, sunscreen, and many other things. One day I was looking for my sunscreen but with my right hand I touched the perfume bottle so it fell, hit my head and crashed on the floor. It almost cut my foot! Then, I had to clean all the mess and, of course, buy a new perfume. I wish I were a bit taller!

This is me!

Hello guys. As you know my name is Jenny Carolina and I'm your teacher of course 😊

I studied Teaching English Program at UIS and I'm currently studying a Master's Degree called Teaching English as a Foreign Language and it's really hard and time-consuming but I love it!

I haven't been in any English speaking country yet but I'm pursuing a scholarship in the USA as a Spanish teacher assistant. So hopefully I'll get it next year. YAY!

I started getting in touch with English since I was a child with video games. Before, games usually weren't dubbed in Spanish as they are now so you had to pay attention to what they said and if there were subtitles it was even better! Thus, if you play video games I'd suggest you buy them in English and allow the English subtitles. Believe me, it helps TONS!!

Movies and English music also help. I used to listen to Britney Spears, NSync, Backstreet Boys, Christina Aguilera, My Chemical Romance, Avril Lavigne, Evanescence, Michael Jackson, and other artists and bands. I feel kind of old now 😐

I can speak my native language Spanish, fluent English and as I told you last class, basic Korean. I know some Korean words and I can introduce myself in Korean but I'm a bit shy on that because of my poor level so do not ask me to say many things in that language, okay? 😅 I also want to learn Japanese, French, Italian and Portuguese but well, I haven't got enough time 😢 So you guys should take advantage and learn as many languages as you can now!! Go for it!!

I have many hobbies. I like watching TV series, movies or documentaries on Netflix, I like surfing the net, editing videos, going to shopping malls with my family and friends, and listening to music. I used to listen to English music a lot. Then, when I started to like anime I listened to Japanese pop and rock. Nowadays I listen to Korean pop/rock a lot and one of my favorite bands is Day6. You've got to check them out!

Well, I was supposed to write a "short" introduction but I think when I write it just flows XD

That's pretty much all about me... ah, oh, well, also that my birthday is on July 20th so go get me a present huh? I'm just kidding 😉 But seriously, you should also tell us your birth date and we can all give you a present. Isn't' it good to feel special and loved on your day? 😁

Ok guys, I'm looking forward to reading your great introductions!
